Support hours: We aim to reply to every email within two working days of receiving it. Our working week is Monday to Friday.
Please read this section carefully. It defines the whole relationship.
Mum Friend provides non-clinical peer emotional support, companionship and practical assistance to expectant and new mothers. In plain terms: someone to talk to, a community of other mums, and help with the practical side of early motherhood.
Mum Friend is not, and does not hold itself out to be, any of the following:
-
therapy, counselling, psychotherapy or psychological treatment
-
medical, nursing, midwifery, obstetric or paediatric care
-
lactation consultancy, physiotherapy, nutrition or dietetic advice
-
a diagnosis, treatment or clinical opinion of any kind
-
childcare, babysitting or a nannying service
-
an emergency, crisis or out of hours medical service
We do not hold a healthcare licence and we do not give medical advice. Nothing said to you by Mum Friend, in a session, a message, a group or any written material, should be taken as medical, psychological, legal or financial advice, or used in place of advice from a qualified professional.
You remain responsible for your own and your baby’s healthcare decisions. Always consult your doctor, midwife or other qualified practitioner about any medical or mental health concern.
In an emergency, contact the emergency services on 998 (ambulance) or 999 (police), or go directly to your nearest hospital. Do not use WhatsApp, email or a scheduled session to raise an urgent safety concern. We are not a crisis line and cannot guarantee an immediate response.
Our services are for women aged 18 or over who are pregnant or have recently given birth, and who are resident in or visiting the United Arab Emirates. By purchasing, you confirm you meet these conditions.
We may decline or end a membership where we believe, acting reasonably and in good faith, that a person’s needs are beyond the scope of peer support and would be better met by a qualified clinician. Where that happens we will say so kindly, help you find appropriate support, and refund any unused portion of a prepaid period.
Depending on what you buy, services may include:
-
a monthly in-person coffee morning, with coffee and a pastry, and an activity for children
-
a members’ messaging community
-
one-to-one support sessions, in person, by video or by phone
-
accompaniment to medical appointments as a supportive, non-clinical companion (bespoke packages only)
-
practical help such as finding and booking appointments, preparing questions to ask, and making sense of information afterwards
-
exclusive member offers from partner businesses
-
self-guided digital materials, guides and journals
The precise inclusions for each membership tier and ticket are set out on the pricing page and in your confirmation email, and form part of these terms.

We will email you a receipt for each payment. You can cancel at any time before your next renewal date by following the Refund & Cancellation Policy.

-
Any session included in your final paid month can be used within 30 days of the end of that month, subject to availability. Sessions not used within this period expire and cannot be refunded, exchanged for cash or transferred.

-
You may reschedule a 1:1 session free of charge with at least 24 hours’ notice. Sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice, or missed, can be used within 30 days of the end of the month in which they were issued, subject to availability.
-
If we need to cancel or move a session or coffee morning, we will offer you an alternative or credit the session.
Messaging and response times
Members’ community and messaging support is available during our support hours. Messages sent outside support hours will be answered the next working day. These are targets, not guarantees. This is not a crisis service.
Changes to prices and inclusions
We may change prices or the contents of a tier by giving you at least 30 days’ written notice by email. If you don’t want to continue at the new price, you may cancel with effect from the date the change takes effect, and we’ll refund any amount already paid for the period after that date. Member pricing is protected for its twelve month term.
Pausing your membership
We understand that life with a new baby is unpredictable. You may ask to pause your membership once in any twelve months for up to two months, for example if you are travelling home to family. Ask us by email and we’ll confirm in writing. Payments and benefits pause for the same period.
Payment
-
Payments are taken in AED by debit or credit card through our secure online payment provider.
-
Mum Friend does not see, handle or store your full card details. Our payment provider stores them securely and processes payments on our behalf, in line with card industry security standards.
-
If a payment fails, we will let you know. If payment remains outstanding after 7 days, we may suspend your membership benefits until it is resolved, and after 14 days we may end the membership.
-
Someone else may buy a membership, ticket or voucher for you as a gift. The person paying is responsible for payment; you are the person who receives the service, and these terms apply to you as the recipient. We will not share anything you discuss with us with the person who paid, unless you give us specific written permission (see Confidentiality and its limits below).
Refunds and cancellation
Our Refund & Cancellation Policy forms part of these terms. You can find it through the link at the bottom of every page of this website.
Your responsibilities
You agree to:
-
give us accurate information, including anything about your health, your baby’s health or your circumstances that affects how we can safely support you
-
tell us if you are under the care of a doctor, midwife, therapist or other practitioner for a condition relevant to the support we are giving
-
treat Mum Friend, and other members in any group setting, with respect
-
provide a safe environment for any home visit, and ensure another responsible adult is contactable
-
keep confidential anything shared by other members in group settings
We may end your membership immediately, without refund of the current month, if you behave abusively or threateningly towards us or another member, or breach the confidentiality of another member.
Confidentiality and its limits
What you tell us stays with us. We will not share the content of your sessions or messages with your partner, your family, your employer, your doctor, or with anyone who has paid for your membership on your behalf, without your specific permission.
There are narrow and important exceptions. We may share information, and will normally tell you first unless doing so would increase risk, where:
-
we believe there is a serious risk to your life or safety, or to the life or safety of your baby, another child or another person
-
we are required to do so by UAE law, a court, or a competent authority
-
you have given us written consent to speak with a named person, such as your doctor
These exceptions exist to keep people safe, and they are the same ones any responsible support service applies.
Safeguarding and signposting
Peer support has limits, and part of our job is knowing where they are. If we become concerned that you would be better helped by a qualified professional, for example if we notice signs of postnatal depression or anxiety, or you tell us something that worries us, we will raise it with you gently and help you find the right support. We maintain relationships with perinatal therapists, doctors and clinics for this purpose.
We will never diagnose you, and we will never discourage you from seeking or continuing medical care.
Appointment accompaniment and home visits
Where a bespoke package includes accompaniment to appointments:
-
our role is to be a calm, supportive presence, to help you remember your questions and to help you make sense of what was said afterwards
-
we do not speak to clinicians on your behalf unless you ask us to in the moment, we do not consent to anything for you, and we do not take part in any clinical decision
-
you remain the patient and the decision maker throughout
-
arrangements for travel and any parking or access charges are as agreed in advance
Where home visits are included, they take place at the address you give us, at an agreed time, and are subject to the safety conditions in Your responsibilities above.
Coffee mornings, children’s activities and the members’ community
Group settings only work if everyone feels safe in them. In any Mum Friend group, whether in person or on messaging:
-
what is shared in the group stays in the group
-
no photography, recording or screenshots without everyone’s consent
-
no promoting your own business, selling or recruiting
-
no medical advice to other members
We may remove anyone from a group who breaches these rules.
Coffee mornings are informal social gatherings. You are responsible for your own child at all times, including during the children’s activity. Please tell us about any allergies or needs your child has before the event. The venue’s own terms and safety rules apply.
Materials and intellectual property
Any guides, journals, courses, checklists or recordings we give you are for your personal use only. They remain our property. Please do not copy, share, resell or publish them.
Photographs at events, testimonials and your story
We sometimes take photographs at coffee mornings and events to share on The Mum Friend’s social media (such as Instagram and Facebook), website and marketing materials, including printed flyers.
We only use a photograph of you or your child if you have given consent. You choose when you book, and you can choose separately for yourself and for your children.
Consent is optional. Saying no does not affect your booking, your membership or how we treat you.
A photograph of a child is used only with the consent of the parent who booked. We will never publish a child’s name, age, nursery or school, or anything that identifies where a family lives.
We will not name or tag you in a post without asking you first.
On the day, anyone who has not consented, or who has asked us not to photograph their children, will be given a sticker so our photographer knows to leave them out. You can ask us not to take your photograph at any event, whatever you chose when booking.
You can withdraw consent at any time by emailing hellothemumfriend@gmail.com. We will remove the photograph from our social media accounts and website, and stop using it in new materials, within 7 days. We cannot recall printed materials already handed out, or copies that other people have shared or saved.
Please do not photograph or film other mums or their children without their permission.
We will never use your name, words or story in our marketing without asking you first and receiving your agreement in writing. You can change your mind at any time and we will remove the material from anything within our control as soon as we reasonably can.
Our responsibility to you
We will provide our services with reasonable care and skill, and in the spirit in which they are offered.
Because Mum Friend is a peer support and companionship service and not a clinical one, we are not responsible for:
-
medical, health or parenting decisions you make, which remain yours
-
the acts, omissions, advice or services of any third party we introduce or refer you to, including clinics, doctors, therapists, venues and partner businesses
-
outcomes relating to your health, your baby’s health, your birth or your recovery
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes any liability that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded under the laws of the United Arab Emirates, including your rights under Federal Law No. 15 of 2020 on Consumer Protection. Subject to that, our total liability to you in connection with our services is limited to the total amount you have paid us in the three months before the event giving rise to the claim.
If something goes wrong
Please tell us. Email hellothemumfriend@gmail.com with the details and we will acknowledge within 2 working days and aim to resolve matters within 14 days.
If we cannot resolve it between us, you may raise the matter with the UAE Ministry of Economy’s consumer protection service or the relevant Department of Economic Development.
These terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates as applied in the Emirate of Dubai, and the courts of Dubai have jurisdiction.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. If a change materially affects you as a member, we will give you at least 30 days’ notice by email. The version published on this page is always the current one.
